What does credit crunch look like?

Yesterday I walked into a Safeway, and my eyes screamed, "credit crunch!!!!!"



The image was like this for many categories, not just yogurt. Are there not other ways retailers can compete against each other?

New shopping experiences? Innovative store brands? Friendly cashiers?

  1. Yeah, I wonder why it is always so hard to get biz not do the low price/discounts strategy all the time... I think that when one competitor starts it, they all feel they will lose market and that they can't afford the risk to not lower prices too. It's like a cycle that has no end and no winners, just like a dog running around his own tail.
    Being very realistic, innovation and creativity is for a few - the few great, valuable brands that stand out and keep doing good even during a recession.
